Here are some of our more frequently asked questions. Of course, we will update this as time goes on.

 

What is the range for the drones?

Depending on the drone (most of the time quad copter is more correct) and environment, we can see 3.5 miles that are controllable with live video feeds. They can top out at almost 18,000 feet altitude on the airframe. They can travel almost 40 MPH. We operate within the federal regulations though, so never really go that far/high. What that means is that they are never out of sight, and under most circumstances not over 400 feet above the ground.

 

What happens if you loose control signal?

Our advanced drones use US GPS and Russian GLONASS (counterpart to the US GPS system) to know their locations. If they stop getting a signal, they will go to a preset altitude and return to the home position, and automatically land.

 

How long can they fly?

Most have about a 25 minute flying time. We never really push that so we maintain a margin of safety in the event something unexpected should come up. You can expect about 17-20 minutes of run time, although it varies based on the weather and how we are flying. Just like in a car, the faster and more aggressive we control it, the less “miles per gallon” we get.

 

How much does it cost?

OK - we have debated adding pricing information, and may eventually add examples. The problem is that each project may have variables that change our bid. We have significant time in editing with certain projects (video promotions for businesses) but almost none in others (inspections for example). Also, some things need significant filming time, and others are pretty straight forward and don't need to look “pretty”. For example, a roof inspection would be about $100, a 1-2 minute real estate video for a house would be about $600. These do have variables too though - a 6000 sf house on 50 acres isn't going to be the same as a 3br/3bath on a standard lot. Basically, just call or email us! Estimates are free and we might have some good ideas you haven't thought of.

 

Do you only get videos/photos from the air?

No - despite the name, if we only shot from the drone, the video wouldn't really look as good as when we mix in ground shooting too.  So we mix it to give you the best results. We are here to tell your story or provide you a service, not just show off what we can do.

 

How good are your cameras?

The drones shoot 4K video and 12 MP images. This gives us the latest Ultra HD videos. The still camera resolution is more than sufficient for our applications. Photos over 220 Megapixels have been created using our knowledge and software to make a seamless product.
